How to nominate

Companies and business organisations that have made impressive achievements in water and wastewater process technologies, improved performance in production processes, or have made other significant contributions to help improve the world water situation are eligible to be nominated for the Stockholm Industry Water Award.

Nomination Procedure
Both external and self nominations are welcome. The nomination should describe in which way the enterprise excels in its field, and include at least two reference letters as well as material supporting the accomplishments.

The nominations are evaluated by an international committee of professionals and scientists. The committee seeks answers to several key questions:

• Are the achievements innovative and the results proven?
• Are the achievements cost-effective and resource-effective?
• Is the process or product applicable under other circumstances in other parts of the world?
• What is the importance of the achievements for the water environment on the local or regional scale?
• Can the achievements stimulate other companies to improve their performance?
• Does the company have a strong record of social and environmental responsibility?

The International Award Committee
An international award committee appointed by the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences reviews the nominations and selects the winning company. The committee is chaired by a representative of the Academy and contains representatives of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, the Stockholm Water Foundation, the Global Water Partnership, the International Water Association and leading academics of water sciences. The Stockholm International Water Institute, SIWI, administers the award and serves as its secretariat.
