The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) works at all levels of society – present in 177 countries – aiming to help build nations, sustain growth and improve the quality of life for everyone. Within its very broad mandate, UNDP works with water resources and water and sanitation as basic services as part of its Water and Ocean Governance Programme (WOGP) and the UNDP Water Governance Facility (WGF) at SIWI.
WGF works with multiple water themes that range from integrated water resources management, transboundary water and water supply and sanitation to climate variability, gender, integrity, human rights and capacity development. The Facility also supports implementation of projects on the ground that are supported through UNDP Country Offices, often in collaboration with other UN Agencies. WGF also assists the WOGP in the reporting of efforts and results relating to UNDP water projects.
