The world is facing a water crisis that seriously affects production and living conditions, jeopardising poverty reduction and sustainable development, particularly in the poor countries of the world. In many cases the limited water resources, particularly in water-scarce countries, are poorly managed resulting in inefficient use and deepening the crisis.
Through the IWRM international training programme (ITP) we aim at contributing to poverty alleviation, by supporting capacity building for Integrated Water Resources Management. The approach is integrated and inter-sectorial.

Integrated Water Resources Management for the Zambezi Riparian Countries
In Sweden, August 9 – 27, 2010
In Southern Africa, November 22 – December 3, 2010
The objective of the training programme is to build capacity for supporting and consolidating the development process of IWRM in the riparian countries of the Zambezi River Basin, including cross border collaboration. The programme shall encourage and stimulate the participants to become involved in dialogue and regional networking on IWRM.

Angola, Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe
The application line is closed for this year’s course.

Gestion Intégrée des Ressources en Eau (GIRE)
La 1ière partie: 11 – 29 octobre, 2010 en Suède.
La 2ième partie: 8 – 19 février, 2011 au Bénin.
SIWI, en partenariat avec Ramboll Natura et une participation financière de Sida (Swedish International developmant Coopération Agency) organise des programmes de formations en Gestion Intégrée des ressources en Eau. L’objectif principal est de soutenir et de stimuler le développement de la GIRE dans les pays des participants, et d’encourager ceux-ci à s’impliquer et à apporter leur contribution dans un réseau régional de GIRE.

Integrated Water Resources Management for Indonesia

Drawing on an international network of the leading experts and practitioners in water management , SIWI arranges training programmes all year around. This IWRM programme is a tailor made course for Indonesia, offered by the Ministry of National Development Planning (BAPPENAS) of Indonesia and Sida.
The training programme is specially designed for persons qualified to participate in reform processes of strategic importance on difference on different levels and holding a position in home organization with mandate to run processes of change. In the long-term perspective the programmes shall contribute to institutional strengthening and capacity development. The training is focused on support to individual or team plans for change. The plan shall be well established in the participant’s organization and is a basic part of the programme concept.
