Concerning the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg 2002, the Stockholm Water Symposia presented four recommendations in order to reach the goal of halve the proportion of people living in extreme poverty, suffering from hunger or unable to reach or afford safe drinking water. The recommendations presented in this policy brief insist on that the link between economic growth and water degradation must be urgently broken and that policy, planning and implementation must be based on integrated solutions with focus at stakeholder participation.
