As hotel room bookings in Rio de Janeiro fill up for the highly anticipated UN Conference on Sustainable Development in June, the Rio+20, veteran observers who have been engaged in sustainable development at international conferences since the 1960s are not expecting much to come out of this conference, even less when it comes to water. New technocratic buzzwords and political resolutions are to be expected, but will they lead to better action on the ground?
