This training programme provides a meeting place for professionals involved in water issues around the world, with the aim of building both personal and institutional bridges. The training programme further
draws on regional and global experience from transboundary water resources management and discusses legal frameworks and novel techniques for enhancing the broad benefits of shared waters.

Regional Development in the Euphrates-Tigris Region

It enhances participants’ understanding of the concepts of regional water development in relation to transboundary river systems and improves their skills in applying the conceptsto promote sustainable regional development.

Transboundary Water Management for the Lake Victoria Region

In Rwanda, October 26 - November 6, 2009
In Sweden, February 22 - 26, 2010

The overall objective of the programme is to strengthen institutions for transboundary water management in the Lake Victoria region. Education offerd by this course is for sustainable development in a river basin context: including case studies from different lake and river basins of the world such as the Baltic Sea and the Mekong River. The contents also includes a field visit to the Kagera River and developing transboundary water commissions like the Nile Basin Initiative.

Eligible Countries
Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda.

Transboundary Water Management for the MENA Region

In Jordan, November 1 -12, 2009
In Sweden, February 22- 26, 2010

The training helps participants identify the advantages of collaborative transboundary water management strategies and improves their ability to apply these strategies in their respective organisations. The programme also provides a meeting place for professionals involved in transboundary water issues in the MENA region and develops both personal and institutional bridges between them. Legal frameworks and new techniques for enhancing the broad benefits of shared waters are actively discussed. Please download the course brochure below for more details.
