Dr Ricard Giné is a Programme Manager at the Water Governance Department.

Ricard supports SIWI’s expertise in the area of sustainable delivery of WaSH (water, sanitation and hygiene) services.

Prior to joining SIWI in 2018, he has been working as a researcher at the Technical University of Catalonia, in Barcelona. His research interests have focused on the connections between the improved delivery of WaSH services and human development – especially the links between science, policy and practice – in low-income countries. More specifically, he has specialised in field data collection methods, development of policy tools to support decision making, and rural water and sanitation services sustainability. He has more than ten years of experience working with water and sanitation issues in East and Southern Africa and in Latin America. During these years, he has published several scientific papers in the field of water and sanitation monitoring.

Ricard holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from the Technical University of Catalonia and a MSc in Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Development from the Imperial College London. He speaks English and Spanish.
