SIWI and WEF agree to expand collaboration on water issues

SIWI has signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Water Environment Federation (WEF), aiming for closer collaboration on a broad spectrum of water issues the years to come.

SIWI’s Executive Director Torgny Holmgren has been on site at the WEFTEC conference in Chicago to sign the MoU, discuss the cooperation further and network with fellow participants. The agreement was signed on Monday October 7 and confirms the interest of both parties in a sustained relationship that will encourage knowledge-building on new strategies, solutions, and challenges on water. This includes linking World Water Week and WEFTEC closer to each other.

SIWI and WEF hope to contribute to the identification of best practices, to the development of tools to address challenges to water sustainability, and also to the identification of innovative approaches to smarter and more sustainable approaches to water services and to water management more broadly.

Specific project areas called out in the agreement include work on identifying innovative solutions to urban water management, and energy/water issues.
