Dr. Alejandro Jiménez is the Director for the Water and Sanitation Department.

Dr. Jiménez leads the Water and Sanitation Department at SIWI. The Department provides advice, develops tools and methodologies, and conducts studies, trainings and workshops on governance issues, to achieve sustainable and resilient water and sanitation services. Alejandro joined SIWI in 2013 and has also been the Program Director for Content Development on water governance for the organization. He has over 15 years of experience working with water governance issues around the world.

Prior to joining SIWI, Alejandro worked for the private sector, for NGOs, and Academia, and worked as consultant for organizations such as World Bank and UNICEF. He has published several articles and book chapters, especially in regard to water and sanitation governance, WASH indicators, and the implementation of the human right to water and sanitation.

Alejandro holds a MsC in Civil Engineering, a PhD in rural water governance, and did a post-doctoral fellowship at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine on sanitation governance
